Womens Conference

Late one night I received a phone call from my friend Melanie(see above picture), as soon as I answered the phone I heard her say something like this:

"Please tell me you have nothing going on tomorrow and you can spend all day with me"

Reluctant to hand over my freedom so easily, I asked what she had in mind.

Typically it meant shopping and lunch, but never had it been an ALL DAY affair.
She invited me to attend a Women's Conference with her. A great opportunity to bond with other women with similar beliefs and lifestyles.
Let me tell you what an eye opening experience it was for me!!! Close to 30,000 women from around the Country and world were gathered together to take various seminars on how to be better women, wives, and mothers. We were boosted with encouragement to follow our dreams and make them realities. Talks were given on how to be better examples to our children(whom i obviously don't have yet), kinder to our neighbors, and more loving and patient to our spouses.

Let me share with you my first impression of these oh so kind and loving women!

As Melanie and I were standing in line to gain access to the first class we had chosen, it was much like waiting to get into a sold out concert of Def Leopard. Every element from being trampled, pushed aside, elbowed in the back, to sneaking behind the curtain to the back door. I was dumb founded at first, and then we realized, if you cant beat 'um, join 'um! So we pushed our way through the sea of women to make it to the head of the line! It was well worth it!

We met up with my sister-in-law Melody and Mimi about half way through the day
The ending of the day was spent listening to President Thomas S. Monson speak. AS you can see it was quite a crowd.

He spoke on strengthening your marriage and working together in a partnership. He told the following story:

"A women asked her husband several times to cut their lawn, to no avail. One day about the time he was due home from work, she grabbed a pair of scissors and sat in the front yard cutting away. Thinking once he saw her, he would get the idea and finally cut the lawn. He went inside, changed his clothes, and a few moments later he came back with a toothbrush and said... once you're done with the lawn, why don't you get started on cleaning the sidewalks!!...not sure if the man is walking just yet!"

Not only did he make us laugh, but made me realize, constant nagging still wont get the task done!! We all bring individual strengths and weaknesses to every relationship, the key is to find a way to compliment one another and work together.

All in all it was a great day, and I walked away feeling like I had lots to grow!
